Washington, D.C., May 10, 2007 -

America must do everything it can to lessen its reliance on foreign energy sources.  Recently H.R. 505, the Securing America’s Energy Independence Act was introduced, which extends tax credits that are set to expire over the next few years.  These tax credits are for residential consumers of energy who are using alternative sources such as photovoltaic or solar power and fuel cells.

I understand the importance of diversifying our efforts to include other sources of energy during this tumultuous time of fluctuating oil prices.  Throughout my tenure in Congress, I have sponsored many bills to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to help elevate the situation.  But I also consistently advocate the use of alternative energy and I would like to see America utilize hydropower and other forms of renewable energy in the near future.
