Rep. Young’s Statement in Honor of Memorial Day

Washington, D.C. – Alaskan Congressman Don Young issued the following statement today in honor of Memorial Day:
“This country is home to millions of courageous men and women who have served their country with honor and bravery, and Alaska is where many of them call home. Our state is home to over one hundred thousand veterans and members of the military and we are blessed to have them.
“America has been blessed with citizens that when called upon, were able to do extraordinary things. Every veteran who answered their country’s call is responsible for ensuring that our freedoms, our ideals and our way of life have endured; none more so than those who gave their lives.
“We speak often of supporting our troops, but support alone is not enough. We must also respect them, respect their families, and respect the good work they do.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to all of our men and women of the Armed Services, and thank you to your families. You epitomize the American spirit and my wife Lu and I will continue to pray for your safety. God bless you and God bless our fine country.”
