Alaskan Congressman Don Young released the following statement today after voting for H.R. 6079 – a bill to repeal ObamaCare (The Affordable Care Act):
“This President’s promise that ObamaCare would create new jobs and lower healthcare costs in America was nothing more than a pipe dream. This law effectively increases Washington’s control over our healthcare system through new taxes and burdensome regulations, while at the same time dramatically cutting Medicare. The fact of the matter is we can decrease healthcare costs and increase accessibility without raising taxes on the American people and hurting small businesses.
“This vote, while largely symbolic, is an important step in repealing and replacing ObamaCare. We have drawn a line in the sand; this House cares more about creating jobs and lowering taxes than increasing Washington’s control over our healthcare system.
“Fortunately, I trust that the American people will demonstrate their disapproval – once and for all –with this job-killing, tax-increasing law when they head to the polls this fall.”
H.R. 6079 passed the House with a bipartisan vote of 244 to 185.
