Rep. Young Supports Plan to Right President’s Broken Promise
November 15, 2013
Washington, D.C. - Alaskan Congressman Don Young today praised the final passage of H.R. 3350, the Keep Your Health Plan Act, legislation he cosponsored to allow millions of Americans with canceled healthcare policies under the Affordable Care Act the ability to keep their existing plans. This commonsense, bipartisan legislation makes good on the President’s broken promise that every American would be able to remain under their current insurance policy.
“Today’s passage of the Keep Your Health Plan Act gives the estimated 5,400 Alaskans and 5 million Americans who received cancellation notices the ability to remain on the plans the President assured them for years they would be able to stay on,” said Rep. Young. “It’s very clear that the American public is fed up and tired with the lies surrounding the Affordable Care Act and are demanding these failures be changed. I’ve said it many times before, Alaskans deserve better than this law and the only way to truly negate the negative effects is to fully repeal and replace it.”
The Keep Your Health Plan Act passed the House by a vote of 261-157, with 39 House Democrats joining the effort.
