Congressman Young Honors Our Nation's Veterans
Washington, D.C.,
November 9, 2006
Alaska Congressman Don Young made this statement concerning Veterans Day: "Veterans Day is a day we express our commitment and obligation to care for those who faithfully served us in times of war and peace. Veterans Day honors all American veterans who have selflessly devoted themselves to protecting our cherished liberties and the sacrifices these extraordinary men and women have made to preserve and defend our freedom. Your heroism cannot be celebrated enough. "I would also like to honor those who have lost their life and those who were wounded in the War on Terrorism. You are the epitome of our symbol of freedom and your bravery will never be forgotten. No nation in history has as comprehensive system of veterans’ benefits as those available to America’s defenders. Although improvement is needed, Congress continues to address challenges and make progress. I will continue to support legislation that supports our nation’s veterans and their families. "Alaska has the highest amount of veterans per capita living in the State. We are honored to be home to some of the bravest and most courageous people on earth. I will continue to pledge my support to veterans issues in the State of Alaska. As we have counted on you in times past, now you can count on us. We salute you on your day. God bless you and God Bless America." |
