Congressman for All Alaska Don Young voted in favor today of H. Con. Res. 44, Honoring and Praising the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) on the occasion of its 98th Anniversary, a bill he also cosponsored. Congressman Young continues to be a member of the Alaska chapter of the NAACP. H. Con. Res. 44 passed by a vote of 410-0 “I am proud to be a cosponsor of this bill,†stated Congressman Young. “The stated mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. I believe very strongly in these ideals, and am proud to be a member of the Alaskan chapter of this organization. The NAACP is working to ensure a society in which all individuals are seen with equality; everyone deserves an equal right to the American dream. I congratulate the NAACP for all of their good work over the years, and for continuing to work toward the day where a person’s contribution to our Nation’s history will be celebrated regardless of his or her ethnicity.†|
