Congressman Don Young Celebrates His 34th Anniversary In Congress
Washington, D.C.,
March 14, 2007
Congressman for All Alaska Don Young is pleased to celebrate his 34th Anniversary as a Member of the United States Congress. On March 6, 1973, Congressman Young won a special election to fill Alaska’s lone Congressional seat. Eight days later he was sworn in and has been re-elected ever since to represent Alaska in the United States House of Representatives. “I feel fortunate to still be representing Alaska after all these years,†said Congressman Young. “Alaska is my home, and to be the state’s sole Member of Congress is a privilege and a pleasure. My wife Lu and I have proudly served Alaskans for 34 years and I have enjoyed every moment. I have had the unique opportunity to watch history unravel first hand during my time in Congress and to serve next to many great people. Through my position, I have been able to meet with thousands of Alaskans over the years; people I would never have had the chance to meet otherwise and who have taught me things about my state I may never have learned. I’ve had the opportunity to draft many pieces of legislation that benefit Alaska and its great people, and to bring more opportunity to the state. I am thankful to all Alaskans, young and old, who have put their trust in me year after year to do right by them and I look forward to serving you all in the 110th Congress. Thank you and God bless.†|
