Global warming is occurring. However, I do not believe that mankind is solely responsible for this occurrence. The earth has gone through nearly two dozen warming and cooling cycles over the last several thousand years. For instance, the National Academy of Sciences has documented the existence of the Medieval Warm Period from about the year 900 to 1300 and the Little Ice Age from about 1500 to 1850. Many believe there is already a consensus in the scientific community that human activity is the sole factor responsible for the recent warming trends. This is simply not true. A growing number of scientists have begun to question the merits of that claim, as well as the doomsday predictions being proliferated in It may in fact be possible to slow the current warming trend down by reducing emissions. Along with producing current energy sources, there should also be the pursuit of strong, reliable alternative energy sources such as, wind and ethanol fuel. Additionally, the current consumption rate of today’s energy sources needs to be decreased both here in the |
