Rep. Young Votes to Override Veto on SCHIP"This bill takes care of Alaska's children and that's my main concern." -Rep. Young
Washington, D.C.,

Alaskan Congressman Don Young voted this afternoon to overrule the President’s veto of H.R. 976, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) Reauthorization Act of 2007. Rep. Young voted in favor of this bill on September 25, 2007 when it came to the House floor. "As I’ve repeatedly said, this is not a perfect bill by any means," explained Rep. Young. "Congress and the White House need to reach a consensus on this otherwise our Nation’s children will suffer. My priority is not political posturing, but making sure our children are properly cared for. We need to make sure that those who need the health insurance receive it, and stop wasting time. This bill takes care of Alaska’s children and that’s my main concern."
