Rep. Young Conducts Second TeleTown Hall

Dials out to over 16,000 Alaskans in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley

Alaskan Congressman Don Young conducted his second Telephone Town Hall last night, where he dialed out to residents aged 55 and older, living in Anchorage, Palmer, and Wasilla. The second in a series of regular telephone town hall events for Rep. Young, this call allowed him to successfully connect with over 12,000 constituents. During the course of the hour-long meeting, constituents were able to ask questions live, mostly focusing on Medicare, Social Security, Immigration, and Renewable Energy issues. Many words of thanks and support were also voiced to the Congressman, and the Alaskan Delegation throughout the call.

"Once again, this program has been a success, and I’m so pleased to bring this technology to Alaskans," said Rep. Young. "While I do meet with hundreds of Alaskans throughout the year, and receive thousands of emails and letters, it’s impossible to hear everyone’s concerns. These kinds of programs allow me to connect with as many of my constituents as possible, and hear first hand people’s opinions. I find these very beneficial to me as the lone Congressman representing Alaska, and I hope those participating find them beneficial as well."
