Rep. Young Signs Letter To Architect Of The Capitol; Requests Better Visitor Access

Alaskan Congressman Don Young has signed on to a letter to Mr. Stephen Ayers, the Architect of the Capitol, urging him to allow full access to the new Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) for staff-led tours.  Due to the current rules staff led tours do not have full access to the CVC.  As the rules stand now, all staff wishing to take any visitors through the CVC would have to attend a two day training workshop, which represents a huge loss of work time, and waste of taxpayer dollars.

“When people travel the great distance from Alaska to Washington, D.C. one of the special things they can look forward to is a personalized, private tour of the Capitol with a member of my staff,” said Rep. Young.  “With the new Visitor’s Center, this tour should be greatly enhanced, however, under these new rules we’re losing on of the greatest perks we can offer our constituents.  I hope that Mr. Ayers takes this letter seriously, and rethinks the repercussions of these actions on our constituents.”
