Rep. Young Urges President To Reconsider Assault Weapons Ban
Washington, D.C.,
February 27, 2009
Alaskan Congressman Don Young began circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter around the U.S. House yesterday afternoon, following news that Attorney General Eric Holder plans to reinstate the assault weapons ban at the President’s behest. The “Dear Colleague” letter asks other Members to sign a letter to the President urging him to discard the plan to reinstate the “assault weapon” ban. Both the “Dear Colleague” and the draft letter to the President are attached.
“Our Second Amendment rights are vital, and sadly, they are under constant attack,” said Rep. Young. “This is a slow creeping of government control, and it is scary. What defines us as Americans is our love of freedom. For the President to come in and try to revoke those freedoms is unconstitutional and unacceptable.” #### |
