Delegation Announces Grants and Contracts to Alaska Programs

– The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants, contracts, and loans awarded to communities in the State of Alaska: U.S. Department of Energy: $10,827,425 to the North Slope Borough to test methane hydrate technologies to expand energy options for communities around the Barrow area. $749,937 to the University of Alaska Fairbanks to study methane emissions and understand their role in global climate dynamics. U.S. Department of Agriculture: $526,000 loan to the City and Borough of Yakutat to construct a new public safety building to be utilized by the police, fire, and EMS services in the community. Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy: $100,000 to the Fairbanks North Star borough COMPASS II Coalition to assist in the prevention and reduction of youth substance abuse. $96,886 to the Anchorage Development Coalition to assist in the prevention and reduction of youth substance abuse. $99,617 to the Community Action Coalition for Prevention in Kasilof to assist in the prevention and reduction of youth substance abuse. $99,767 to the Alaska Red Ribbon Coalition of Anchorage to assist in the prevention and reduction of youth substance abuse. U.S. Department of Health and Human Service: $948,387 to the Southcentral Foundation of Anchorage, an Alaska Native-owned healthcare organization serving Alaska Native and American Indian people living in Anchorage, for health care and other facilities. U.S. Department of the Army: $6,494,099 contract awarded to Chugach Government Services in Anchorage for the construction of a 7500 KVA substation and natural gas generators including all switchgear and controls. U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development: $172,092 to the Louden Tribal Council of Galena through the Indian Housing Block Grant Program. $129,673 to the Native Village of Tanacross through the Indian Housing Block Grant Program.
