Rep. Young Announces Transportation Grants

Alaskan Congressman Don Young is pleased to announce that grant funds for two projects authorized in SAFETEA-LU (H.R. 3) will be released from the Department of Transportation this week for bus and bus facilities in Alaska. Funds being released are: $650,000 to the Tanana Chiefs Conference for an Intermodal Parking Facility at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center in Fairbanks. $682,110 to the City and Borough of Juneau for bus acquisition. "It always brings me great pleasure to see transportation funds at work," said Rep. Young. "These are very worthwhile projects and I congratulate the recipients on receiving the funding they need to move forward. Every day in Alaska we work towards a more advanced infrastructure and this funding moves us in the right direction. A secure infrastructure system is the key to a strong economy and helps keep Alaskans employed, and I can always get behind that."
