Delegation Announces Grants and Contracts to Alaska Programs

– The Alaska Congressional Delegation is pleased to announce the following grants awarded to communities in the State of Alaska:

U.S. Department of Transportation:

$450,000 grant to the City of Sitka to rehabilitate the Terminal Building at Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport.

$211,240 grant to the City of Soldotna to construct additional apron space for the Soldotna Airport.

$500,000 grant to the City of Kenai for construction of a storage building at Kenai Municipal Airport.

$215,550 grant to the North Slope Borough to cover costs of the Alaska Beluga Whale Committee support and co-management of Beluga Whale research and subsistence use.

$735,000 grant to the Alaska Railroad to install and test its positive train control system, the Collision Avoidance System, on 68 locomotives.

U.S. Department of Commerce:

$274,675 grant to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for King Crab Aquaculture and Enhancement in Alaska.

U.S. Department of Energy:

$250,000, as part of a $1,474,800.00 total cost of contract, to the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation for the 2008 State Energy Program allocation. To date, $1,229,000 of this obligated price of contract has been fulfilled.

National Endowment for the Arts:

$7,500 to the Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center in Haines to organize a NEA Big Read program, which will enable the Center to engage the whole community in reading and discussing The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services:

$1,522,961, as part of a $4,534,765 total cost of contract, to Alutiiq Business Services to provide Quality Assurance Support Services at the 4 USCIS Service Centers.
