Rep. Young Congratulates Alaska Airlines for Excellence Award

Alaskan Congressman Don Young released the following statement today congratulating Alaska airlines on its seventh consecutive Diamond Award for maintenance training excellence from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA): "My warmest congratulations to Alaska Airlines on this fine distinction," said Rep. Young. "We hear a lot of negative stories about the airlines in the news, but not nearly enough positive stories about those who are doing well. Alaska Airlines is to be commended for their commitment to excellence and to safe transport. It always pleases me to see Alaskan business thriving. Alaska Airlines employs 1786 Alaskans, and that is very important; we must continue to keep Alaskans employed with good companies in good jobs. As a regular passenger on Alaska Airlines, I congratulate them for the work they do, and for their continued dedication to keeping the many Alaskans who fly daily, safe and comfortable. This is the fifth consecutive year Alaska received the award with the distinction of Special Recognition, an honor given only when all eligible employees participate in the Aviation Maintenance Technician Awards (AMT) program. Additionally, the FAA honored 724 Alaska Airlines employees with individual AMT awards.
