Rep. Young Votes For Military Pay Increase
Washington, D.C.,
January 16, 2008
Alaskan Congressman Don Young voted today in favor of H.R. 4986, the Defense Authorization Bill for Fiscal Year 2008, which will retroactively provide for the full 3.5 percent pay increase for members of our military. "Members of our Armed Forces deserve this pay raise, and I’m happy we can finally provide it for them," said Rep. Young. "The job they do for this country is priceless; you can’t put a price on a life. We need to make sure they and their families are compensated as best they can be as they fight for the freedom of our Country. We must ensure that they are taken care of overseas in the battle fields with proper equipment and proper care and proper staffing. And we must make sure they are taken care of when they return home to their families. Many of those fighting overseas are my constituents, and my job is to make sure all Alaskans are cared for." #### |
