Rep. Young Stuffs Christmas Stockings For Foster Children

Alaskan Congressman Don Young was pleased to join the FosterClub today to help former foster youth stuff holiday stockings for delivery to current foster children in time for Christmas.  Rep. Young, the grandfather of fourteen grandchildren, many of who were adopted, helped stuff a stocking while also meeting with former foster children and learning about the FosterClub program which serves as the national network for youth in foster care.  Alaska currently has 1,791 children in foster care.

“I just think what they are doing is great, and I’m glad I was able to be a part of it,” said Rep. Young.  “This program is doing good things.  It’s unfortunate that so many children are in the foster care system, but programs like these really show these children that they are cared for.  It’s very important that people explore opportunities to care for and adopt a foster child.  I have two grandchildren that started in the foster system and were then adopted by my daughter, and other grandchildren that were adopted as well.  We must continue to take measures to make sure all of our Nation’s children have a loving home and family.”
