Alaskan Congressman Don Young was pleased to welcome Yaaw Tei Yi, a Tlingit dance tribe based out of Juneau, Alaska.  In celebration of National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, the dancers made the trip to Capitol Hill to for a celebration of American Indian Music and Dance.

“It was a real treat for me and my wife to enjoy the dancing of this group here in D.C.,” said Rep. Young.  “It made me feel a bit like I was back home.  This is an amazingly talented group of individuals who display their culture and heritage exceptionally.  They did all Tlingit’s proud today.  I just got back from the Alaska Federation of Natives Convention in Fairbanks where Alaskan Native culture and pride was abundant.  This is a wonderful continuation of the celebration of the first residents of our great state!”
