“I am always impressed with the young people of Alaska,” said Rep. Young.  “Year in and year out, I am taken aback by the artistic talents displayed by the young artists who submit their work for this competition and this year is no different. Shawna’s ability to draw such a unique and creative piece of art using just graphite is nothing short of incredible. I commend Shawna and all of this year’s entrants and look forward to being a part of this competition in the years to come.”

Each spring, each House member sponsors a piece of art from a high school student in their district. To learn more about the Congressional Art Competition, click here.
