Amendment would transfer Tok property for health clinicStaff Report
FAIRBANKS — An amendment to the federal Coast Guard Authorization Act would authorize the Coast Guard to transfer a dormant dormitory to the Tanana Chiefs Conference for use as a mental health clinic, according to a news release from Alaska’s U.S. Rep. Don Young.
The dormitory is a former Coast Guard facility used as part of a LORAN navigation program discontinued in 2010.
Under an amendment introduced by Young, the Tanana Chiefs Conference would be able to buy the dormitory for fair market value to help take on clients served by the Tok Area Counseling Center until it closed in August 2014. The money would go into the Coast Guard’s housing fund. |
