Congressman Don Young Welcomes Alaskan Kellie Chong to Washington, D.C. Staff

Washington, D.C.   Today, Alaska Congressman Don Young announced that Kellie Chong of Fairbanks has been hired to serve as a Legislative Assistant in his Washington, D.C. office. Previously, Kellie worked for U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) as a Legislative Aide. She attended George Mason University where she graduated with a degree in Government and International Politics. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Korean American Staff Association, an organization dedicated to building and empowering Korean American representation in public service.

"It is my great honor to welcome Kellie Chong to my team in Washington, D.C. Kellie is smart, determined, and committed to ensuring the voices of her fellow Alaskans are heard loud and clear in Congress,” said Congressman Don Young. “Although D.C. is far from her hometown of Fairbanks, Kellie is an Alaskan through and through who has already proven to be a successful champion for our state through her work in Senator Murkowski's office. I proudly have one of the most effective teams in Congress, and I am confident that Kellie will help us keep up our great work on behalf of the people of our state. In the years ahead, I hope local leaders, advocates, and stakeholders will get to know Kellie as we all continue working together to secure big wins for Alaska."

“I am blessed to have started my career in public service serving my home state of Alaska,” added Kellie Chong. “I am beyond grateful that I have the opportunity to continue to better understand our state’s unique challenges and to passionately advocate for Alaska’s interests. Growing up as a daughter of a small business owner who continues to run their small business in Fairbanks for over 20 years, it is only right that I do my part to take care of the community that has taken care of me and my family. I greatly look forward to working with Congressman Young and his amazing team in my new role to make a positive and innovative impact on our Alaskan communities.”
